| Around half of the gasoline in the USA is produced throughout the American part of the Mexican’s Gulf, from Corpus Christi to New Orleans. This production generates a great inventory of petroleum coke; the black and hard substance that remains when everything else has been extracted from the crude oil. Since 1996 about nine coke plants around the gulf have been created or amplified, this has permitted the refiners to improve their profitability and reduce air pollution after processing their residues. The petroleum coke has acquired popularity among aluminum producers, steel plants and other industrial sectors. It is highly used as a fuel for equipment in electricity generating facilities or mixed with carbon as a fuel for the blast furnace in the cement industry.

Houston’s navigation channel allows ships to get as far as 3.2 km from the city’s downtown, that’s what makes Houston one of USA’s most traveled harbors, exporting petrochemical products, oil, sulfur, bovine cattle, rice, and cotton. |
